What’s been happening:

Since graduation from Penn State, I have spent 30 years in software engineering in various technical and management positions. I have worked for Texas Instruments, Sperry Univac, Lockheed and currently BAE Systems building real-time military systems and then installing and supporting them all over the world. I have dealt with paper tape reader/writers, punched card, octal/hexdecimal patching, manual entry of code through the front panel of a mini-computer, 8K memory systems with no storage to GBs of memory with TBs of storage. It has been a great experience! The current graduates have no idea what it was like in the old days. For the last 10 years, I have been an information technology manager for BAE Systems. Even though it was different that real-time software engineering, it has been interesting work. At this end of this year I will be retiring and would not have missed any of it.
